Computer Vision and AI — ESA BIC Lazio

AURORA develops AI-driven computer vision and machine learning pipelines for image recognition, visual classification and intra-parcel crop state analytics. Validated within the ESA ecosystem through the ABSTRAQ project on digital quality control, these capabilities power AURORA's real-world smartphone-based scanning solutions for agrifood, industrial and environmental monitoring applications.

GIS Climate and Land Monitoring

AURORA delivers parcel-scale spatial data management, environmental risk assessment and land-use analytics built on Copernicus Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 open data. Aligned with INSPIRE Directive and EU Data Governance Act interoperability standards, AURORA's GIS services support precision agriculture, climate-risk monitoring and sustainable land management across SME and institutional clients.

Digital Platforms and UX/UI

Supported by the Camera di Commercio di Roma through the 2025 Voucher Doppia Transizione Digitale e Ecologica programme, AURORA has developed an integrated digital platform combining e-commerce, ERP/CRM backend integration, API-based system connectivity and UX/UI design tailored for non-technical users. This capability underpins AURORA's user-facing dashboards and decision-support interfaces.

Quantum Sensing and Advanced Analytics

AURORA is active on the Emilia-Romagna StartUp call with a deep-tech proposal in quantum photonics and optical sensing for industrial quality control. The proposal structures AI-driven analytics pipelines for non-destructive inspection, photon counting signal reconstruction and defect classification, extending AURORA's sensing and data analytics portfolio toward high-precision industrial applications.

Quantum Precision for Optical Integrity

ABSTRAQ

Aurora begins its incubation journey at ESA BIC Lazio with the ABSTRAQ project, developing an advanced system for detecting invisible flaws that compromise photonic performance. From space-grade optical fibres to complex photonic components, even microscopic defects can affect signal integrity and long-term reliability. ABSTRAQ introduces a quantum-enhanced inspection approach capable of identifying structural anomalies, scattering defects, and micro-irregularities along optical paths with unprecedented sensitivity, enabling more reliable testing and quality assurance for next-generation optical and laser communication technologies.
